Papa Smurf Bromley Fight Night

Ding Ding! Seconds away…

At the ripe old age of 55 I’ve decided to sign up to the ‘2BX Boxing Show’ boxing card, for my first three round public match.

I’ve been training at the 2BX boxing gym for the last three years as many of you may know – just to keep fit. The gym has bestowed the honorary title of ‘Papa Smurf’ upon me, as I’m at least twice and sometimes three times the age of my counterparts (the white beard and blue / white complexion doesn’t help!).

And its under this ‘boxing moniker’ that I will make my debut bout. My ambition is (1) to have enough courage to enter the ring (2) to get fit and competent enough to see it through; and (3) to come out intact, having achieved something I’ve always wanted to do.

At the same time I’d like to support a great cause. The night is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This charity is here to help everyone with cancer, to live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, they’re right there. If you’re warm to the idea of making a donation, I’d be delighted. All contributors are most welcome. If you follow the link below to my JustGiving page it is simple, fast and secure.

If I don’t see you on the night, I will hopefully see you soon. I hope!
